Lodging Set-Up/Tear-Down Staff

Shambhala Music Festival is looking for Kootenay locals to join our paid Shambhalodging team for the setup & tear-down of tents before and after the festival this summer- this is a unique summer work opportunity not to be missed!
Lodging Set-Up/Tear Down staff will work on the festival grounds near Salmo, BC between May-August, and must be able to reliably commute to the site.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in moving all equipment within Lodging area (tents, air mattresses, etc.)
- Keep area clean and remove all garbage
- Set-up/tear-down tents, air mattresses, and other amenities, ensuring items are clean or are packaged to be cleaned
- Assist with landscaping duties
- Assist with any minor construction to be completed
- Assist with decorating and installing lighting as needed
- Inventory leftover supplies and equipment, keeping neat and accurate records
- Perform additional tasks as requested
- Ensure hours worked are documented, signing in and out with your Supervisor
- Attend daily tailgate meeting with your supervisor at the beginning of your shift
- Perform requested tasks
- Execute and display the Shambhala spirit of love, magic, and welcome at each point of contact in a warm and friendly way
Qualifications Include:
- Experience working with basic tools - Training can be provided on site for the right candidates
- Experience being part of a team and working toward a common goal
- Relatively fit and healthy and able to lift up to 50 pounds (will have to walk longer distances on farm)
- Experience setting up camping equipment an asset
- Landscaping experience an asset
- Ability to work with basic tools (training provided)
- Ability to work efficiently with a team
- Take direction well
- Flexible and able to respond to changes in working conditions
- Comfortable working early mornings and outdoors in potentially unfavorable weather while maintaining a positive demeanor
- Patient performing repetitive tasks
- Maintain awareness of environment, with a sense of responsibility for fellow crew members as well as company image
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse workspace without personal judgments or bias
- Passionate about delivering safe and inclusive events
We are open to receiving applications from all candidates, however, preference will be given to those who meet the following funding requirements:
- Unemployed, underemployed, precariously employed;
- Not be a student (enrolled in a post-secondary training institute);
- Reside in the West Kootenay region (Trail, Castlegar, Nelson or surrounding communities);
- Be legally able to work in B.C. (Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada)
