The HR Assistant supports the Human Resources department by assisting with recruitment and hiring, facilitating communication, supervising volunteers, managing post-show administrative tasks, and helping with the day-to-day operations to ensure the department runs smoothly and efficiently.
- These full-time, temporary positions will be based primarily at our head office on Baker Street in the beautiful city of Nelson, BC.
- Festival Site Work: The successful candidates will also be required to work on-site at the festival location near Salmo, BC for about 1 month in July.
Available Positions:
We have 4 positions available with varying start dates as follows. Please indicate which position you're most interested in when applying.
- 1 Position: Mid-January to Sept. 11, 2026
- 2 Positions: Mid-March to Sept. 11, 2026
- 1 Position: Mid-April to Sept. 11, 2026
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist the HR department throughout the full recruitment cycle, including sourcing candidates, conducting online interviews, preparing job offers, and managing contracts and agreements.
- Address employee concerns, grievances, and conflicts fairly and confidentially.
- Build, assign, amend, and manage employee schedules efficiently using various software.
- Supervise and support HR volunteers by providing guidance and problem-solving as they complete tasks, check in crew members, and issue credentials with accuracy and professionalism.
- Assist new crew members in filling out paperwork and identifying missing or incorrect paperwork.
- Answer emails and field general inquiries from crew.
- Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team and assist with additional tasks or workload as needed.
- Assist with the organization and implementation of training materials for all crew.
- Provide exceptional service and support to crew members, ensuring a friendly and welcoming experience at every point of contact.
- Assist with post-show wrap-up activities, including reviewing hours, verifying records, entering reviews, supporting final payroll and volunteer deposit processes.
- Identify and prioritize communications and responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Above-average computer skills and experience using Google Suite.
- Ability to quickly learn new software.
- Experience with festivals and events is an asset.
- Organization and analytical thinking skills are necessary for this role.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous work experience as an HR Assistant or similar role is an asset.
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
- Hospitality or Customer Service experience is an asset.
- Certification in Human Resources Management or relevant fields is an asset, but not required.

Pay Rate: $22-23 per hour
