Assistant Sign Maker
Are you a detail-oriented creative with hands-on design experience? We’re looking for an Assistant Sign Maker to bring festival signage to life!
This full-time, temporary position runs from May 11 to July 31 2026, and will work primarily at our head office on Baker Street in beautiful Nelson, BC.
The Assistant Sign Maker works closely with the Graphic Designer to create engaging, functional signage that enhances the guest experience. This role supports the full process from design through to execution, bringing concepts to life through hands-on print production, assembly, and installation. Ideal for a detail-oriented and hands-on individual, this position suits someone who enjoys working at the intersection of design and physical production in a fast-paced festival environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the Graphic Designer in creating visual assets for festival signage, decor, and marketing materials.
Prepare and adapt design files for print, ensuring accuracy and production readiness.
Assist in all aspects of print production, including large format printing, lamination, mounting, trimming, and packaging.
Operate printers, RIP software, laminators, and other fabrication equipment.
Assist in the preparation and assembly of signage and display elements for installation.
Organize, package, and distribute printed materials to various festival departments.
Contribute to the organization and maintenance of the festival’s visual asset library.
Collaborate with the Marketing Team to ensure alignment with brand identity and project timelines.
Qualifications:
Degree, coursework, or experience in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
Proficiency or familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite.
Interest in and willingness to learn print production processes and equipment.
Familiarity with basic hand tools.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are considered assets.

Interest in both digital design and hands-on production work.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to work in a culturally diverse work space without personal judgments or bias.

Pay Rate:
