These full-time, temporary positions work various schedules on the festival site near Salmo, BC, between June 29 and July 28, 2026. Please let us know your dates of availability when you apply.
The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals in a fast-paced food service environment. This role plays an important part in ensuring consistent, efficient, and high-standard food service and meal distribution. They will support smooth kitchen operations, maintain food safety and quality standards, and contribute to the overall success of daily service.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Take directions in food preparation from the Manager/Supervisor.
Ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC and IHA FoodSafe practices at all times.
Assist Manager in delivering all meals on time.
Ensure all recipes are being followed, portion size follows SMF standards, and that meals are of highest possible quality.
Ensure crew stays hydrated and receives regular breaks and meals.
Pick up a timesheet at the Payroll office before each shift (if first shift of the day) and return to Payroll at end of shift (if last shift of the day), ensuring all crew sign in/out on the timesheet properly.
Run daily tailgate meetings with all crew members at the beginning of each shift.
Report any maintenance issues to the Manager.
Consult the Manager in decision-making.
Ability to foresee and trouble-shoot potential issues, making recommendations to increase efficiency.
Continuously assess and evaluate crew performance and skills. Work with HR/Manager to find solutions if someone continues to underperform.
Report any discrepancies or hazards to the Supervisor immediately, assist in remedy of the situation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
FoodSafe certification mandatory.
Experience working in a kitchen is required.
Experience cooking for crowds, up to 800 on a 24/7 schedule, an asset.
Previous festival experience is an asset.
Experience leading a team of 5 or more is an asset.

Excellent communicator. Able to interact effectively with all levels of chain of command.
A committed individual and self-motivating, capable of multitasking and prioritizing.
Superb ability to maintain a level head in stressful situations.
Comfortable working long shifts, early mornings or late nights, and outdoors in potentially unfavorable weather while maintaining a positive demeanor.
Solid understanding of how a kitchen is run and the operation of various equipment.
Comfortable and effective in a supervisory position; able to identify and assign tasks requiring attention and provide assistance to the Kitchen Manager.
Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism at all times when conducting operations and interacting with patrons.
Flexible and able to respond to changes in working conditions.
Use correct radio etiquette and procedures.
Understand the limits of the site and work within the parameters.
Maintain awareness of the environment, sense of responsibility for fellow crew members as well as company image.
Ability to work in a culturally diverse work space without personal judgments or bias.

Pay Rate:
Crew Kitchen Cook Salary: $1450-$6500 (salaries based on schedule & total hours)
Outlet Cooks: $18.25 per hour
